Summer in the park is designed for children ages 10 and under along with their families, each of the programs listed below offers a unique way to get outside, and learn something new about history or nature. This free summer program at Deep River County Park takes place on Wednesdays at 10 AM from June 13- August 8. These programs are designed for families and individuals, if interested in a group reservation call 219-947-1958.
Paint with Nature

Explore the park for nature's pain brushes.
Meet the Miller
June 19 at 10 AM
Learn how the miller still makes stone ground cornmeal with hands on activities
Bucket Brigade
June 26 at 10 AM
Learn fire safety with the "Smoke House" and stay for some watery fun bucket brigade to put out a (pretend) fire!
Flag Fun
July 3 at 10 AM
Celebrate America with a flag hunt around the park and make your own flag craft.
For the Birds
July 10 at 10 AM
Learn about the birds you can see in the park and make a bird feeder for your backyard.
Cooking Up History
July 17 at 10 AM
Learn about how meals were prepared in the 1800's.
Sunflower House
July 24 at 10 AM
Help us plant sunflowers for a fall bloom and make a sunflower craft.
Bugging Out

Don't let bugs BUG you...find out how cool they are at our bug zoo.
It's Un-be-weave-able

Learn how we make rag rugs on a 19th century loom.
